Chemistry: A Study of Matter Semester 1 Chemistry is the study of matter, its composition and the changes it undergoes. During this semester, you will be introduced to the scientific method used to study matter and will be given the mathematical tools you will need for the remainder of the course. Semester 2 This semester begins with the introduction of the mole. This important concept will be used during the remainder of the year as the basis for many calculations involving chemical reactions, solutions, and gases. In the units on thermochemistry and chemical kinetics, you will learn how energy is absorbed and given off during chemical reactions and how energy, and factors affect the rates of reactions. Physics Fundamentals Semester 1 Semester 1 of physics is the study of mechanics, which involves motion and its causes. After reviewing the mathematical skills needed for this study, you will be introduced to vectors, learning how to express quantities including direction and how to deal with vectors in calculations.

Semester 2 This semester is a continuation of the study of energy, introduced to you in the first semester as mechanical energy. In this semester, you will study other forms of energy, including electric energy, magnetism, sound, and light. You will learn how mechanical and electromagnetic waves transport energy. Streaming In addition to watching the videos in this site, Georgia teachers and students can stream Chemistry: A Study of Matter and Physics Fundamentals from GPB Education Streaming by plugging in the search term ‘GPB Classroom’ and select an episode to stream live or download. Physics consists of two series teaching high school college preparatory chemistry and physics. Chemistry: A Study of Matter and Physics Fundamentals provides instructional content delivered through thirty-minute episodes and integrated classroom materials.

Episodes provide content while giving cues for the classroom teacher to pause the program and interact with students, engaging them in discussions, problem-solving, and laboratory activities. For each unit, daily lesson plans are given to help teachers prepare for and pace the lessons. Classroom materials, including note-taking guides to accompany the episodes, worksheets, classroom activities, quizzes, and tests are available in electronic format. For security reasons, only student materials are provided on this site.

The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting occurred on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, United States, when 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot 20 children between six and seven years old, as well as six adult staff members. The incident was the deadliest mass shooting at either a high school or grade school in U. A November 2013 report issued by the Connecticut State Attorney’s office concluded that Lanza acted alone and planned his actions, but provided no indication why he did so, or why he targeted the school. As of November 30, 2012, 456 children were enrolled in kindergarten through fourth grade at Sandy Hook Elementary School. EST on Friday, December 14, 2012, Lanza shot and killed his mother Nancy Lanza, aged 52, at their Newtown home.
