Choose board books with large, bright pictures and simple text, as well as books with material such as fur or felt to help stimulate her sense of touch. Vary the pitch of your voice to keep your baby stimulated and interested. Talking to your baby is also important. Narrate what you are doing in your everyday routine, for example, when changing the nappy or pointing out different foods in the supermarket.

While she won’t be able to repeat these back, she will be storing them up in her ever-developing memory bank. Her ability to interact is on the increase and by now she may respond to her face in the mirror or to the sound of your voice. What has Khloe named her baby? How many weeks pregnant are you?
